Hybrid Online EMT Course Description
The Hybrid Online EMT course is designed for students unable to attend a traditional classroom setting due to work or school. This class will consist of online modules including power points, interactive lectures, case studies, video review, and chapter quizzes. You will start the program on the day you choose.
You do not have to wait for the sign up to date on our schedule. (That is just so you have a place to sign up online). You will be given a digital textbook that you will use to study for the chapter exams. If you would like to purchase a hard copy of the book you may do so.
After you have completed all 41-chapter exams you will be invited to the mandatory classroom time which is Saturday and Sunday for 3 weeks. This will be scheduled every other month on odd numbered months, (Jan, Mar, May, etc.) We must have at least 3 students who have finished the 41 chapters in order to hold a class. Students will be exposed to skills, skills testing, and a written final exam.
You will not be invited to a skills session until you have passed the 41-chapter tests. Once you have completed all 41 chapters and all skills sessions you will be eligible to take the final exam and then your ride along.
This program is designed to give the student the skills and knowledge to function as a working Emergency Medical Technician at the basic level and to facilitate the passing of the National Registry Exam.
The program is intended for those who want to gain employment as a firefighter, emergency care technician at a hospital and Ambulance driver or attendant. It is also for those individuals who are planning on attempting to obtain a higher level of medical training such as RN, PA or MD as an enhancement for the competitive application process for those professions.
After the online and in-person skill and exams are completed, the student will attend (2) 12 hour ambulance ride along in which you must have a minimum of 10 patient contacts. Once that has been completed the student will receive a course completion certification allowing them to take the National Registry Exam.
